Yes they can, no hospital stays.

Both surgery and radiotherapy cure the cancer itself equally good. What sets them apart is the side effect pattern after treatment.

How does SBRT compare to surgery?
Both SBRT and surgery have shown comparable cancer control outcomes. What sets them apart is the side effect profile after treatment. With SBRT, there is no post-treatment catheter and no recovery restrictions. In the PACE-A trial, SBRT showed favourable results for urinary continence and sexual function compared to surgery.

How does the system integrate with existing QA protocols?
Raypilot® System has a separate QA assessment that needs to be performed before using the system.

How does urethra visualization reduce side effect?
The urethra is considered an organ at risk and should be spared from unnecessary radiation exposure. As the urethra passes through the prostate and is not itself diseased, minimizing the radiation dose to the urethra is important to reduce the risk of treatment-related side effects. Lower dose exposure to organs at risk, such as the urethra, is associated with improved safety and reduced toxicity.

How long does a treatment take?
Each treatment session takes approximately 15 minutes.

How many additional patients can be treated per linac per year?
If your hospital treats patients with 20 fractions it’s a fraction 4 if you choose to work with SBRT. If you treat 100 patients per linac per year today you will be able to treat 400 patients per linac per year if you treat with SBRT.

How will treatment affect my continence and sexual function?
This is one of the most important questions to discuss with your doctor. In the PACE-A trial, which compared SBRT directly with surgery, patients treated with SBRT reported more favourable outcomes for both urinary continence and sexual function. The Raypilot® System is specifically designed to help protect these functions by enabling the treatment team to visualise and spare the urethra and neurovascular bundles during treatment. Individual outcomes vary, and your doctor can help you understand what to expect based on your specific situation.

Is the Raypilot® System suitable for all prostate cancer patients?
SBRT is used for low, intermediate and selected high risk patients. It is up to the doctor to decide which treatment is suitable.

Is the treatment painful?
No. The radiation treatment itself is painless. You will not feel anything during the session. Before treatment begins, a thin urinary catheter (the Raypilot® HypoCath) is placed to enable real-time tracking of the prostate. This is a standard catheterisation procedure and may cause some temporary discomfort, but does not require anaesthesia. The catheter stays in place throughout the treatment period (typically 1 to 5 days) and is removed after the final session. Patient can experience discomfort during catheter use, and other side effects that will be communicated by your doctor.

Is there clinical downtime during installation?
Installation of the Raypilot® System is completed over two half-day sessions.

What are the most common side effects of prostate SBRT?
Mild urinary and bowel side effects and mild erectile dysfunction.

What calibration is needed after installation?
The only calibration/verification needed is the daily Quality Control.

What does a typical SBRT workflow with the Raypilot System look like?
It starts with a CT or MRI simulation with the simulation catheter Raypilot Viewcath. On the first treatment day the Raypilot Hypocath is inserted followed by concequtive 1-5 days treatment. Raypilot Hypocath ensure motion tracking for the user to stop the beam if necessary.

What infrastructure changes are needed?
No infrastructure changes are needed, apart from en extra screen in the bunker and control room.

What level of evidence supports SBRT for prostate cancer Treatment?
Following an intermediate cancer there are several studies and experience using SBRT for Prostate Cancer treatment, for example HYPO-RT, PACE-B, FLAME and ongoing PACE-C study. SBRT has been used for 10 years.
