ENCOURAGING RESULTS FROM A SCIENTIFIC COLLABORATION BETWEEN HELSINKI UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, RAYSEARCH AND MICROPOS
We are pleased to announce that ESTRO (the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy and Oncology) has now published online the electronic poster, Reconstruction of Intra-Fractional Prostate Movement and Its Effect on Dose Distribution, for the coming autumn ESTRO 2020 congress in Vienna, Austria.
The aim of the study was to retrospectively reconstruct the dose distributions for five (5) patients at Helsinki University Hospital, Finland, having intra-fractional prostate movement exceeding 3 mm. The reconstruction was done by using a research version of RayStation treatment planning system (RaySearch Laboratories, Sweden) and motion data from the RayPilot system (Micropos Medical, Sweden) recorded during hypofractionated treatment sessions. The study demonstrated that both dose to the prostate (target) and undesired dose to rectum and bladder (potential side effects) are significantly depending on prostate movement.
